Local Area

Brooklyn is nestled among several small towns including Pomfret, Putnam and Canterbury. But while the area is called “The Quiet Corner”, There are many points of interest within minutes of PierceCare.

Pomfret, known for its prep schools and vineyards, in recent years has become a residential attraction to a few Hollywood superstars – seeking the quiet beauty of New England’s natural beauty. The Connecticut Audubon Center at Pomfret is a haven for birds and bird watchers alike.

Putnam, a burgeoning antiques district, is a close getaway to theater at The Bradley Playhouse and a number of fabulous restaurants.

Other local points of interest include the Creamery Brook Bison Farm, just minutes away (complete with an ice cream shop) and the exquisite Golden Lamb Buttery experience (“restaurant” does not do this destination justice!) The new Killingly Commons shopping center offers a variety of shopping and dining choices and Las Vegas style entertainment and gambling is less than an hour away at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos.

The oldest country fair in the country, the Brooklyn Fair, takes place each summer just a walk away from our community. In addition to the wonderful walking trail that borders Creamery Brook Village, the Goodwin and Pachoag State Forests are great local treasures for walkers and hikers. There are many outstanding public and private golf courses in the area as well including the Brooklyn Country Club, the Connecticut National Golf Club in Putnam, and Quinnatisset Country Club in Thompson.

Although Baptist in origin, Creamery Brook Village is open to people of all faiths and churches of many denominations are here in the center of town. Our neighborhood is full of New England charm with its historic buildings, statues and antique shops and easy access to major highways make Creamery Brook Village a great location.

Brooklyn Center churches include: Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic church and the Federated Church of Christ. Methodist, Congregational, Baptist, and many other churches are in Brooklyn and neighboring towns.
