History
Pierce Memorial Baptist Home has a long, rich tradition of excellence in health care services.
The land Pierce Home sits upon is land that was
originally the Pierce Family Homestead. It was
donated in 1951 by Amasa and Edna Pierce to
the American Baptist Churches of Connecticut
in order to become the Home for Elderly Baptists.
In 1954, 15 additional rooms were added and named for Harley Nelson, Administrator from 1951 to 1957. In 1971, 30 additional rooms in the Roper-Wood Wing expanded our ministry and in 1990, 27 additional rooms were constructed. We currently have the capacity to care for a census of 80 residents.
The Home is governed by a Board of 21 Trustees who are dedicated volunteers with strong loyalty to our American Baptist Mission.
Since our founding in 1951 we have admitted many residents, some of whom have resided here over 20 years.
Pierce Home is certified for Medicare and Medicaid participation. We are licensed for 2 levels of care by the Connecticut Department of Health. We are members of the Connecticut Association of Health Care Facilities, The American Association of Homes for the Aging, Inc., and the American Baptist Homes and Hospital Association.
Our Administrator is licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Health. Our nursing staff meets more than the federal and state minimum qualifications for training and supervision. All supporting staff are trained in their respective responsibilities and exceed minimum requirements for annual continuing education credits and in-service training.
Pierce Home is open to people of all faiths.
Pierce Home makes available services such as short term rehabilitation, long term nursing care, residential care, adult day care, respite care, hospice.
